Tokyo Downtown – from Kitanomaru koen to Tokyo Station – Shin Marounochi – Otemachi

A little walk we had today from the exit of the park called Kitanomaru koen, to the central railway station of Tokyo, (be wary you’re not going to find the “central” station in this town) Well, it is embarassing (…Firefox dixit)  but sometimes finding a closed door (on monday a major park is closed as every monday) opens other opportunities.

I called this area Downtown as if we were in one the U.S. cities I had known for the paramount importance in the economic life of the town but you’re not goint to find this name anywhere else. Somehow this could be called also financial district, or just one part of it as you may see from the construction sites I shooted, it’s huge.

There is not a single building I choosed to portait here as a beauty despite there are some interesting skyscrapers (for instance I liked the one called Shin Marounochi designed by a british architect and finished in 2007) if one would love to do so. You may want to consider the all area as synonimous of balance, and this could be expressed as beauty in my mind furthermore you can find this kind of balance only here in Tokyo.
The peculiar characteristics are: the largeness of the roads, the high of the skyscrapers (some of them are quite new and some are in construction right now), the accuracy in the pavement, the presence of foot runners, the elegance of the trees and…the traffic.

We are near the Emperor residence, with its magnificient entrance just in front of the central train station named simply  Tokyo.
Another conceivable title for this post would be Tokyo Station since its opening after renovation is recent (last winter 2012), and it has been widely promoted trough all the media. I agree with the importance of its heritage (why I would not ! 1914 with only 4 tracks now you’re going to lose yourself inside it) meanwhile I am not about its style or its architectural value.
It is probably due to the fact that generally japanese people or japanese institutions have in high remark their early period of openess to the western world and since I am western guy watching copies of others western styles does not excites me so much. Here below the gallery.
